Plattsburgh State Falls in SUNYAC Semifinal Matchup Against Fredonia

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's soccer team saw its season come to a close on Wednesday afternoon, falling 2-0 to third-seeded Fredonia in the semifinals of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Tournament at the Field House Complex.

Fredonia opened the scoring early, as Haley Drinon found the back of the net in the ninth minute to give the Blue Devils a 1-0 advantage. Plattsburgh State looked to respond, putting together several attacking opportunities throughout the remainder of the first half, but entered the break trailing by one.

The Cardinals continued to battle in the second half, generating eight shots and five corner kicks while looking for the equalizer. However, Fredonia doubled its lead in the 71st minute when Avery Aloi scored to extend the Blue Devils' advantage to 2-0.

Plattsburgh State finished with 14 shots, including three on target, while Fredonia recorded 16 shots with seven on goal. The Cardinals also earned eight corner kicks compared to nine for the Blue Devils.

With the result, Plattsburgh State concludes its 2026 season with a 9-4-4 overall record after earning the second seed in the SUNYAC Tournament and advancing to the conference semifinals with the East Division title.
