Cardinal Men's Hockey Team Announces End of the Year Awards

Senior Dylan Clarke was named the 2011 recipient of the Chester A. Grabowski Award.
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – Plattsburgh State men’s hockey head coach Bob Emery announces the team awards for the 2010-11 season, which were given out last week at the team’s end of the year banquet.

Freshman defenseman Barry Roytman was named most improved player.  The Staten Island native played in 24 games scoring a goal and five assists.  Roytman was also named the Outstanding Rookie of the PrimeLink Great Northern ShootOut, where Plattsburgh defeated Norwich to claim the tournament championship.

Nick Jensen was named this year’s recipient of the Mike Daoust Rookie of the Year award.  A right wing out of Helsingborg, Sweden, he was third on the team in scoring with 22 points in 26 games played.  Jensen received State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Rookie of the Week honors on two occasions: Nov. 29 and Feb. 28.  

The scholar-athlete award was given to defenseman Ryan Corry.  The senior out of Calgary, Alberta is an Academic All-SUNYAC and Commissioner’s List performer.  Corry is also a two-time recipient of the Provost’s Award, an award that recognizes the top five grade point averages for both male and female non first-year student-athletes each semester.  Corry tallied 13 points on five goals and eight assists in 2010-11 and finishes his career with 79 career points in 108 games played.

Senior forward Dylan Clarke was the recipient of the Chester A. Grabowski Award, given annually to the player who most typifies Plattsburgh State Cardinal Hockey, demonstrating supreme sportsmanship, leadership, hard work and dedication.  Clarke, a native of Belleville, Ontario, scored a team-leading 18 goals and was second in scoring with 32 points.  Clarke finished the season tied for fourth in the nation with 10 power play goals.  He was named a Second Team All-American in 2009 and received all-conference honors in four-straight seasons.  Clarke finishes his Cardinal career with 139 career points.

Eric Satim was named the team’s most valuable player.  A senior forward of Montreal, Quebec, Satim was named a Second Team All-American as the Cardinals’ leading scorer in 2010-11 with 35 points.  He posted team-highs in assists (22) and game-winning goals (5).  He was named First Team All-Conference earlier this season and was a member of the SUNYAC All-Tournament Team.  Satim registered his 100th career point earlier this season in a 7-1 win over Curry College, becoming the 50th Cardinal to reach the milestone. He was also named Most Valuable Player of the PrimeLink Great Northern ShootOut in November.  Satim finishes his four-year career with 44 goals and 78 assists for 122 points in 100 games played.
