PLATTSBURGH, N.Y – The Cardinal offense exploded for 12 runs in a 12-0 shutout of Lyndon State in non-conference baseball action Wednesday afternoon. Plattsburgh State improves to 16-17 on the year, while the Hornets drop to 6-22.
Donny Coolidge, Damien Tyler and Anthony Presto each picked up two RBI for the Cardinals. Tyler’s first RBI of the day came on an inside-the-park home run in the second inning after Shawn Lonardelli crashed into the left field fence in an attempt to make the catch.
Pat Shaughnessy went 2-for-4 for the Cardinals, drilling a solo home run to left in the third inning.
Greg Larnerd, Jon Handy, Danny Roeser and Miguel Lopez each drove home a run for Plattsburgh. Handy went 3-for-4 with a run scored.
Cody Gage, Shawn Lonardelli, Patrick Hilton and Shane O’Donnell-Leach each picked up a hit for the Hornets, who were held to just four hits on the afternoon.
O’Donnell-Leach suffered the loss, allowing eight runs on 10 hits in six innings. He issued six walks and struck out two for Lyndon State.
The Cardinals used nine different pitchers to extend their unbeaten streak to four. Steven Corea tossed a scoreless second inning and received credit for the win, improving his record to 1-2.
Plattsburgh is back in action tomorrow afternoon for another non-conference contest at St. Michael’s. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
