Women's Hockey Advances to ECAC West Finals with 2-1 Win over Neumann

ROCHESTER, N.Y.
– Steph Moon netted a power-play goal with 2:09 in the third period, lifting the Plattsburgh State women’s hockey to a 2-1 win over Neumann and securing the Cardinals’ spot in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Women’s West Championship Game.

Teal Gove put the Cardinals on the board at 16:55 of the first period from Kara Buehler to give Plattsburgh a 1-0 lead after one.

Neumann’s Jasper Thomson tallied an unassisted goal late in the second period to tie the game at 1-1.

Plattsburgh dominated Neumann in shots on goal, holding a 41-18 advantage.  Mandy Mackrell picked up her 14th win between the pipes for the Cardinals, making 17 stops.  Shannon Donnelly recorded 39 saves for the Knights in the loss.

The Cardinals (20-3-3) will face R.I.T., who defeated Utica, 2-0, in the other semifinal game, for the ECAC Women’s West Championship.  Tomorrow will mark the Cardinals 10th straight appearance in the championship game.  Game time is set for 3 p.m. at Ritter Arena.
