FREDONIA, N.Y. – Fredonia scored three goals in the first half to defeat the Plattsburgh State women’s soccer team, 3-0, in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game Friday afternoon at University Stadium.
The Cardinals drop to 5-4-3 overall and 3-2-1 in conference play, while the Blue Devils improve to 8-6-0 on the year and 4-2-0 in the SUNYAC.
Katie Kleine put Fredonia on the board in the 6
th minute with a goal from Reilly Condidorio and Maddie Brown. At 17:53, Catie Hale put the home team up by two on a header goal from Melissa Cummiskey.
Kristi Putzig stretched the Blue Devils’ lead to 3-0 at 28:33 with a goal off a corner kick.
Alina Greiser suffered the loss for Plattsburgh, allowing three goals and making three saves. Monica D’Ippolito took over for Greiser at 36:15 and finished the day with two saves. Meaghan Meszaros manned the Fredonia net, recording five saves in the victory.
Shots were in Fredonia’s favor (15-8) while Plattsburgh held a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks.
The Cardinals will look to bounce back tomorrow afternoon at Buffalo State. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.
