OSWEGO, N.Y - Plattsburgh's Lindsey Keyser and Kristie Pageau made life difficult for the Oswego State women's soccer team, totaling two goals and four assists in a 4-1 decision for the Cardinals over the Lakers on Saturday afternoon at Laker Field.

The Cardinals controlled possession throughout the majority of the game, scoring two goals in both halves and outshooting the Lakers 17-5.

Plattsburgh got on the scoreboard first on a goal by Emily LaLone at 24:49. Pageau found LaLone in the box with a pass from the right side of the field. LaLone handled the pass and fired a shot past Oswego State goalkeeper Emily Varonier near the far side post.

The Cardinals struck again just over two minutes later on Keyser's first of two goals on the game. Pageau earned her second assist of the game with a pass from just inside the Oswego State defensive zone that found Keyser on the left side of the field. Keyser chipped a shot that made its way around Varonier, who had come out of her net in an attempt to cut off a shooting angle, and into the far side post, as the Lakers went into halftime trailing 2-0.

The Lakers were able to cut the deficit in half at 58:19 on a goal by defender Liz Conrad. Following a foul by Plattsburgh, defender Stephanie San Antonio found Conrad on a free kick, who was able to beat Plattsburgh goalkeeper Monica D'Ippolito for the team's only goal of the game.

The Cardinals answered with a goal of their own just 26 seconds later on Leigh Metcalf's goal at 58:43. Pageau found LaLone in the box, who sent a pass to Metcalf on the left side of the field. Metcalf fired a shot that Varonier got a piece of, but not enough to keep the ball out of the back of the net.

Keyser's second goal of the game with 4:19 remaining in regulation sealed the victory for the Cardinals. Pageau earned her fourth assist of the contest when she found Keyser in the middle of the box. Keyser connected on the pass and beat Varonier for the game's final goal.

Varonier finished with three saves on seven shots, while D'Ippolito finished with three saves on four shots.

The Cardinals improved to 4-3-2 overall and 2-1-0 in SUNYAC play. The loss dropped the Lakers to 7-4-0 overall and 1-3-0 in the conference.

Plattsburgh returns home on Friday, Oct. 7 for a conference game against New Paltz. The game is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Field House Soccer Complex.
