Boxscore and Play-by-Play

GENESEO, N.Y. – Lindsey Keyser’s goal in the 72nd minute of play was all the Plattsburgh State women’s soccer team needed against defending State University of New York Athletic Conference champion Geneseo. With the 1-0 victory, the Cardinals improve to 7-1-0 overall and 2-0-0 in conference play. The Blue Knights stand at 6-2-0 overall and 2-1-0 in the SUNYAC.
Geneseo held a slight advantage in shots, 12-10, but Plattsburgh edged Geneseo with four corner kicks to the Blue Knight’s three. Liz Radigan and Emily LaLone led the Cardinals with two shots apiece.
Katie Clerkin of the Blue Knights stopped two shots, while Geneseo also picked up a team save. Alina Greiser made three saves in goal for the Cardinals in her fourth shutout this season.
Keyser’s game winning goal was redirected into the net off a corner kick by Emily Riley. During the original contest, which ended in a scoreless overtime tie, Keyser’s goal was disallowed. Plattsburgh State filed a protest, which they won, resulting in the victory.

Plattsburgh State returns home Friday, October 1 at 4 p.m. to continue conference play against the Oswego State Lakers.
