Host Clarkson Snaps Plattsburgh's 18-game Win Streak

Cardinals Lose for the First Time Since Mar. 4 Season Opener

POTSDAM, N.Y. - Plattsburgh State scored nine runs on six hits and seven walks against Clarkson on Wednesday, but it still wasn't enough offense as the Cardinals saw their school-record 18-game winning streak come to an end with a 14-9 loss at the hands of the host Golden Knights at Jack Phillips Stadium. It was only the second loss of the season for the Cardinals, who are now 18-2 heading into conference play Saturday versus New Paltz. Clarkson improves to 5-11.

Tory Bouyea led Plattsburgh (No. 18 ABCA, No. 23 D3Baseball.com/NCBWA polls) at the plate by going 2-for-4, including a double, with two runs batted in.  Donny Coolidge also had two RBI.

Garrett Russell finished the day 5-for-5 with four runs scored and four driven in, while David Kinney was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs. All but one Clarkson starter had a hit as the Knights pounded out 19 hits.

Plattsburgh struck first with a run in the top of the first on a Bouyea double, but the Golden Knights responded with four runs in the bottom of the inning and never looked back.

Clarkson tacked on four more in the fourth inning, starting with a two-run homer from Chris Falteisek.

Trailing 13-4 after six, the Cardinals took advantage of some sloppy defensive play by the Knights in the next few innings, scoring five runs, only three of which were earned as the Knights had three passed balls and four errors to let Plattsburgh hang around.
