CASTLETON, Vt.– Castleton State pounded out 24 hits en route to an 18-4 non-conference baseball victory Wednesday over visiting Plattsburgh State at Spartan Field, improving to 18-9 on the season. The nationally No. 18-ranked Cardinals fall to 21-5.
Danny Roeser continued his hot streak at the plate for the Cardinals, going 4-for-5 with two runs batted in. Roeser has seven hits in his last 10 at-bats over two games. Justin Mahan, Dave Russo and Alex Read also had a hit for Plattsburgh.
The Spartans struck early in the first inning by scoring six times after two outs. They added six more during the next frame for a commanding 12-0 lead.
Offensively for Castleton, Ryan Zielinski went 3-for-6 with two RBI, Garrett Bissonnette was 4-for-6 with two RBI and three runs, Matt Eisenhuth went 3-for-5 with two runs driven in and two runs scored, and Kurt Hewes was 3-for-5 with one RBI and three runs scored.
