NEW PALTZ, N.Y.--Kristie Pageau scored the only goal of the game in the second half and the Plattsburgh State defense made that stand up in a 1-0 win Saturday at New Paltz in State University of New York Athletic Conference women's soccer action at Hawks Field. The Cardinals improve to 9-2-1 overall and 4-1-1 in SUNYAC while the Hawks fall to 6-7-1 and 4-3 in the league.

The teams battled to a scoreless first half despite Plattsburgh applying steady offensive pressure with a 10-2 shots advantage. The Cardinals ended up with 15 shots to 10 for New Paltz.

However, Pageau and the Cardinals dented the scoreboard in the 66th minute when Emily Riley sent a through ball from the right flank and then Pageau calmly scored her third goal of the season past NP goalkeeper Stephanie Vega, who finished with four saves.

Alina Greiser made one save in the Cardinals net for her seventh shutout of the year.
