Oneonta Edges Plattsburgh Women in Overtime

ONEONTA, N.Y.
– The Plattsburgh State women’s soccer team found itself in another close battle with a State University of New York Athletic Conference opponent on Friday evening in Oneonta.  After battling back to send the game into overtime, the Cardinals fell to the Red Dragons, 3-2, four minutes into the second overtime period.

Plattsburgh State struck first on Lindsey Keyser’s fourth goal of the season from the top of the box.  Kristie Pageau was credited with an assist on the goal at 37:23.  

Oneonta State attacked in the second half when Sarah Bobroff took a shot from inside the box that hit the post before beating Plattsburgh goalie Alina Greiser in the 55th minute.  The Red Dragons added another goal less than two minutes later when Karly DeSimone knocked one into the net off a corner kick from Melissa Guglielmo.

The Cardinals fought back to tie the game at 67:03 when Liz Radigan took a rebound off a defender and shot the ball over Oneonta goalie Amy Lusby.  Kayla Rabideau picked up her third assists of the season on Radigan’s goal.

Bobroff tallied the game-winner for Oneonta from Amanda Regensburger at 104:54 on a shot to the far right corner of the net.

Oneonta held the advantage in shots (20-11) and corner kicks (9-3).  Rabideau led the Cardinals with four shots, while Radigan followed with three.

Greiser played 104 minutes in net, making 8 saves in the effort.  Lusby made five stops for Oneonta.

Plattsburgh State falls to 8-2-1 (3-1-1 SUNYAC), while Oneonta improves to 8-3-1 (4-1-1 SUNYAC) on the season.

The Cardinals return to action tomorrow at 1 p.m. against New Paltz.
