PLATTSBURGH, N.Y.
– In another close State University of New York Athletic Conference matchup, the Plattsburgh State women’s soccer team held off a tough Cortland team for a 0-0 tie.  With the tie, the Cardinals sit at 7-1-2 (2-0-2 SUNYAC) for the season.  The Red Dragons are 6-2-3 overall and 2-0-1 in conference play.

The Cardinals held a slight advantage over Cortland in shots (16-13) and corner kicks (6-5).  Liz Radigan had six shots for Plattsburgh State, while Lindsey Keyser followed with four.  Kayla Rabideau took three shots, all of which were on net against Cortland.

The Red Dragons put pressure on the Cardinals in overtime, outshooting Plattsburgh 4-1.  In the second overtime, Plattsburgh goalie Alina Greiser made a key stop off a shot by Cortland’s Taylor Teal to preserve the tie.  Greiser recorded 10 saves for her sixth shutout this season.  Cortland goalkeeper Pam Monnier stopped five Plattsburgh shots over 110 minutes of action.

Cortland won the penalty kick shootout, 3-1, which is used as a tiebreaker between teams to determine seedings for the SUNYAC tournament.  Kayla Rabideau blasted a shot past Monnier for the only Plattsburgh goal in the shootout.

The Cardinals hit the road next weekend to continue conference play at Oneonta on Friday, October 8 at 4 p.m. and at New Paltz on Saturday, October 9 at 1 p.m.
