TROY, N.Y. - The Plattsburgh State women's soccer team beat host Rennselaer 2-0 on the first day of competition at the 2009 RPI Classic. The Cardinals, now 2-0 for the season, held RPI, 1-1 this season, to only two shots on goals during the contest.

Lindsey Keyser scored first for Plattsburgh at the 21:25 mark. Keyser dribbled the ball up from midfield and sent a high shot over the head of RPI goalie Jaclyn Henry and into
the net.  The Cardinals later doubled their lead on a penalty kick goal by Helen Giroux at 76:52. Overall, Plattsburgh held a 21-2 shot advantage.

In her first start for Plattsburgh, freshman goalkeeper Ricci Celia recorded two saves enroute to her first collegiate shutout. Henry made six saves for Rennselaer.

The Cardinals will face off against Union (N.Y.) tomorrow, September 6, at 2 p.m. on the final day of competition at the Classic.
