POTSDAM, N.Y. - The nationally-ranked No. 16 Plattsburgh State women's soccer team kept its own win-streak alive while bringing an end to State University of New York Athletic Conference foe Potsdam's. The Cardinals up-ended the Bears 5-0 to bring their season record to 6-0, 1-0 in the SUNYAC. The Bears fall to 5-1 on the year.
In goal, freshman keeper Ricci Celia picked up her third shut out and third win of her career after stopping two shots. Sarah Casey earned the loss for Potsdam while recording three saves and allowing three goals. Lisa Bates took over goalie duties in the second half for the Bears, collecting two saves and allowing as many goals.
Helen Giroux bookended the game for the Cardinals scoring her first goal of the game during the sixth minute after receiving an assist from Lindsey Keyser and then knocking in her second, the team's fifth, unassisted in the 67th minute. Giroux also provided the assist on Plattsburgh's fourth goal of the night, which was headed in by Liz Radigan at the 53:05 mark.
Kaitlin Collica and Emily Riley also netted unassisted goals during the contest.The Cardinals look to continue their winning ways next Wednesday, September 23, at Williams. The game against the Ephs is set to begin at 4:30 p.m.
