Red Dragons Best Cardinal Women at Home

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - A few missteps by the Cardinals in the first minute of the Plattsburgh State women's soccer game against State University of New York Athletic Conference foe Oneonta may have allowed the Red Dragons to score, but the game was nonetheless hard fought throughout. Unfortunately, Oneonta's Kayla Brantmeyer's shot to the back of the net 47 seconds into the first half ended up being enough to secure a 1-0 victory for the Red Dragons.

The Cardinals fall to 7-3-2 on the year, 2-2-2 in the SUNYAC. Meanwhile, the Red Dragon move up to 8-2-2 for the season, 5-1-0 in the conference.Overall, the two teams stood toe to toe with each taking three corner kicks apiece and Plattsburgh racking up seven shots to the Red Dragons' six.

Ricci Celia stood between the pipes the entire contest for Plattsburgh and recorded three saves, while Jamie Chyat picked up one save for Oneonta during her 90 minutes spent at keeper.

Renee Egan and Kristie Pageau led the Cardinals with two shots each. Brantmeyer did the same for Oneonta with two shots as well.

The Cardinals look to redeem themselves tomorrow when they take on New Paltz at home at 1 p.m. in their final home conference game of the season.
