PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - Freshman goalkeeper Lianne Foley earned her first collegiate shutout when the Plattsburgh State women's soccer team defeated the New Paltz Hawks 1-0 at home. Foley picked up one save during her first start as a Cardinal.
Plattsburgh's record now stands at 8-3-2 for the year, 3-2-2 in the State University of New York Athletic Conference. New Paltz falls to 4-7-3 overall, 1-5-1 in conference play.
Ashley McKenelley recorded her second goal of the season for Plattsburgh when she received a pass into the box from Emily Riley and flicked the ball back into the left-hand corner of the net with her head during the 38th minute.
The Cardinals outshot the Hawks 14-2 during the contest, with 10 of those shots coming in the first half. Lindsey Keyser and Liz Radigan led Plattsburgh with three shots apiece, two each being on goal.
Plattsburgh returns to action next Friday, October 16, in Buffalo where the team will take on SUNYAC foe Buffalo State in a 3 p.m. match-up.
