Dylan Trombley begins his second year as the Men's Basketball Assistant Coach at Plattsburgh State in 2025-26.
In his first year as Assistant Coach, Trombley assisted with player development, scouting, and team operations. Trombley's assistance with player development helped the Cardinals become one of the best offenses in the conference, ranking first in points per game, second in field goal percentage, and second in offensive efficiency. He helped coach the Cardinals All-SUNYAC selection in senior guard Kevin Tabb, as he shot career-best from all spots on the floor, and All-SUNYAC selection junior guard Kareem Welch, who shot 50.0% from the field, which was fifth in the conference. Trombley's efforts in scouting helped the team improve defensively as the Cardinals ranked first in steals per game and blocks per game.
Trombley competed at SUNY Oneonta for three years on the men’s basketball team from 2018-2022 and played one season at Plattsburgh from 2023-24. At Oneonta, he scored 824 points over his career on a 40.8 shooting percentage from the three-point line. During Trombley’s 2021-22 season, he earned All-SUNYAC Second Team Honors. Overall, during his time at Oneonta, he ranks fourth all-time in three-point field goal percentage and is fourth all-time in three-point field goals made. At Plattsburgh, he scored 303 points, eclipsing the 1,000-point mark of his career as he averaged 11.7 points per game, which was second on the team. Trombley was also named to the NABC Honors Court for his success in the classroom that season.
Most recently, Trombley has volunteered as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Moriah Central, where the team has been to three consecutive sectional championships. He also has experience running a skill and development basketball camp, where he has helped develop multiple all-state players.
