David Starin

David Starin begins his first year as the assistant volleyball coach at Plattsburgh State in 2013. He brings a wealth of volleyball experience to the table after successful stints at the club, high school and NCAA Division III levels.
 
Most recently, Starin was heavily involved with the volleyball program at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He served as the assistant coach during the 2012 season which saw the Engineers compile a 19-9 record, including a 5-4 mark in NEWMAC matches. At the conclusion of the 2012 campaign, Starin was promoted to interim head coach.
 
In the spring of 2013, he signed on as an assistant coach for the Lesley University men’s volleyball squad where he helped supervise all practice sessions and drew up match strategies.
 
Starin began his coaching career in 2006 at Londonderry Senior High School where he spent two seasons as the junior varsity boys coach before accepting a promotion to lead the varsity squad in 2008.
 
Over the course of his five-year varsity coaching career, Starin prepped 13 New Hampshire Coaches Association All-State selections and led his number two-ranked 2011 squad to the state finals where they concluded the season with a 15-4 mark. In 2009, Starin was further distinguished in the coaching circle by receiving the State of New Hampshire Boys’ Coach of the Year award.
 
Additionally, Starin led the girls volleyball program at Lowell Catholic High School in 2011 and led the 18U Andover Pumas Junior Olympic club team from 2011 until 2012.
 
Originally from Troy, N.Y., Starin obtained his bachelor’s degree in marketing management from Siena College in 2006. In 2012, he added a master’s degree in finance from Southern New Hampshire University. Starin resides in Plattsburgh with his wife, Melissa, and daughter, Ella.Â
