Pat Shaughnessy

  • Title
    Assistant Women's Soccer Coach

One of the best players to ever put on a Plattsburgh State uniform, Pat Shaughnessy is in his second season patrolling the sidelines for the Plattsburgh State women’s soccer team in 2013.

Shaughnessy, a Plattsburgh native, donned the red and white from 2007-11 and helped the Cardinals to a pair of NCAA Division III Tournament apperances and a 2010 SUNYAC Tounament Championship on the heels of a fourth-place regular season finish. By the time his career had concluded, Shaughnessy had amassed 42 goals and 14 assists for 98 points. His 42 goals tied him for fourth all-time in program history.

He capped off his dazzling career in 2011 by earning a spot on the All-SUNYAC First Team before being named to the NSCAA All-East Region First Team for the first and only time in his career. That season, he also led the SUNYAC in scoring with 33 total points.

Shaughnessy also had the distinction of being the only SUNYAC player designated as an NSCAA Scholar All-American in the 2011 season. The postseason awards kept pouring in, as he was chosen as an ECAC All-Star after being named to the Capital One Academic All-District Team.

Shaughnessy was also a standout baseball player for the Cardinals, as he is the all-time home run leader (11) for Plattsburgh State in addition to being in the top 10 in 12 statistical categories. He earned the Male Senior Achievement Award during his final season as a student-athlete.
