Katie Savard

Katie (Roos) Savard begins her first season as an assistant track and field coach at Plattsburgh State in 2016-17.
 
In her role as an assistant coach, Savard is in charge of coaching the throwers and assisting with recruiting.
 
Savard served as an assistant track and field coach at Roy C. Ketcham High School for the 2008 outdoor season before moving across Wappingers Central School District to serve as an assistant track and field coach at John Jay-East Fishkill High School from 2009-14. While there, she mentored several student-athletes who went on to throw in college, including one future NCAA Division I javelin thrower.
 
She currently is an adjunct mathematics professor at Clinton Community College and has served as an adjunct professor at both Dutchess Community College and Ulster County Community College.
 
A thrower at Roy C. Ketcham from 2000-04, Savard won the hammer throw at the Section I Outdoor Track and Field Championships in 2003 (100' 8") and 2004 (120 11") and the weight throw (37' 5.5") at the Section I Indoor Track and Field Championships in 2004. She set county and Section I records in the weight and hammer throws while at Roy C. Ketcham and competed at the indoor national championship meet in 2004, where she placed 14th out of 29 competitors in the weight throw with a mark of 37' 4.25".
 
Savard earned her Bachelor of Science in business administration in 2008 and her Master of Education in 2011, both from Marist College.
