MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's basketball looked to bounce back in their second meeting with the Mustangs this season after dropping a contest to Cortland last night. Sophomore forward Kaelyn Morgan (Chateaugay, N.Y. / Chateaugay Central) chipped in seven points, three rebounds, and a steal, and junior guard Julia Greek (Long Island, N.Y. / Ward Melville) dished out a game-high five assists to go with six points and six rebounds
.
For the Mustangs, Anyssia Ingersoll led all players in points with 29 and added 14 rebounds for a double-double as well as three assists and two steals. Abbie Platt also notched a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds to go with a game-high three steals.

Plattsburgh shot 32.9 percent from the floor and knocked down 12 three-pointers, finishing at 25.5% from beyond the arc. Morrisville shot 30.3% from both the field and three-point range, connecting on 10 triples. The Cardinals dominated the glass, 59-41, and held a strong advantage in second-chance points, 11-2, helping offset Morrisville's edge in points off turnovers, 20-11.

The Cardinals jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead, fueled by Walcott with four points, before the Mustangs finally got on the board and made the score 7-2 with 8:17 remaining. Late in the quarter, a Johannesen triple and a Walcott free throw gave Plattsburgh a 20-13 lead going into the second quarter.

A layup from Morgan and a Sculco triple pushed the Cardinals' lead to 25-13, Plattsburgh's largest lead at the time, with 7:09 to go. After the Mustangs drained consecutive threes to close the gap, Peterson-Ross answered with a triple, and Walcott added a layup, giving the Cardinals a 31-23 edge at the break.

Morrisville rattled off a quick 5-0 burst out of the break, but Desiree DuBois (Champlain, N.Y. / Northeastern Clinton Central) had the answer, nailing a triple and a jumper to cushion Plattsburgh's lead to 36-31 at the 5:38 mark. A Morrisville run briefly gave them a 43-39 lead, only to see Peterson-Ross bury a triple to spark a 7-0 surge as the Cardinals took a 45-43 lead into the final quarter.

The fourth quarter saw the Mustangs battle back and take a 52-48 lead on a 9-0 run with 6:43 to play. The lead was short-lived, as the Cardinals erupted for a 13-0 flurry behind eight points from Sculco, grabbing a 61-52 lead and eventually securing a 64-54 victory.

With the win, Plattsburgh State rises to 13-8 (8-6 SUNYAC) and next travels to Buffalo State on Friday, Feb. 13, for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.
