Women’s Soccer Falls 1-0 at Clarkson

POTSDAM, N.Y. - The Plattsburgh State women's soccer team came up just short in its road matchup at Clarkson University on Wednesday evening, falling 1-0 despite a strong second-half push.

The Cardinals, who entered the contest at 1-1, were looking to bounce back after a road loss at RPI. Clarkson, who defeated Plattsburgh 3-0 in last season's meeting, controlled much of the opening half, outshooting the Cardinals 6-1. Still, Plattsburgh's back line held firm, sending the match into halftime scoreless.

Just two minutes into the second half, the Golden Knights broke through as Julia Tylar headed home the opening goal off a corner kick to give Clarkson a 1-0 lead.

Plattsburgh responded with energy, outshooting Clarkson 7-5 in the second half while generating quality chances in search of the equalizer. Despite the surge, the Cardinals were unable to find the back of the net, ultimately dropping a narrow 1-0 decision.

With the loss, Plattsburgh moves to 1-2 on the season. The Cardinals return home on Saturday, Sept. 6, for Senior Day, hosting VTSU-Johnson at 1 p.m. at the Field House Complex.
