SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Junior defender
Lillian Gilroy (Rome, N.Y. / Rome Free Academy) of Plattsburgh State earned All-State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) honors for women's lacrosse, as announced Wednesday by the conference office. Gilroy earned Third-Team All-SUNYAC honors, the second all-league honors of her career after earning third-team plaudits last year as well.
Gilroy had an impressive 2025 campaign, leading the team in draw controls, ground balls, and caused turnovers. She collected 98 draw controls on the season, ranking fourth in the conference, finishing the season with four double-digit draw control performances. Her 98 draw controls this season set a new program record for draw controls in a single season, as she bested her record of 60 that she set last season. Gilroy's dominance on the circle was highlighted by a career-high 17-draw control performance against VTSU-Castleton on Feb. 26. Her 17 draw controls also set a program record for draw controls in a single game as she topped the previous mark of 13, which she set last year. The junior defender finished the season with 42 ground balls to lead the team, sliding in at sixth in the conference in that category. She scooped up a career-high seven ground balls against Fredonia on Mar. 22 and had eight games with three or more ground balls. She was first on the team and 11th in the conference with 23 caused turnovers. Defensively, she had three games with three or more caused turnovers, highlighted by four caused turnovers against Fredonia on Mar. 22 and against Russell Sage on Mar. 26. Gilroy also impacted the offensive end with three goals for three points on the season, recording goals against Fredonia, Russell Sage, and Oswego State.
Lexi Atwater and Morgan Atwater of New Paltz were tabbed Attack Player of the Year and Midfielder of the Year, respectively. Lexi Caron of Cortland earned Defensive Player of the Year, while Kimora Swamp was named both Goalkeeper and Rookie of the Year. Head coach Britt Howard and her staff from Oswego State were recognized as the Coaching Staff of the Year.
Plattsburgh State finished the season 3-12 (1-8 SUNYAC).
