Plattsburgh State moves to 1-2 and is back in action on Tuesday, Mar. 11 when the team travels to Clarkson for a 4 p.m. opening draw control. Union rises to 1-0 and is back in action next Saturday, Mar. 8 when they host Geneseo.
The Cardinals scored the opening goal after Barnosky controlled the offense from behind the net and found a cutting Maurer for the goal at the 12:53 mark. Union responded with back-to-back goals and took a 2-1 lead before Tabor was able to rip a shot past the Union goalie and tied the game at 2 at the 7:51 mark.
Unfortunately, that tie wouldn't last long as Union responded with a goal 40 seconds later that started a 9-0 scoring run that went into the second quarter and gave them a commanding 11-2 lead at the 5:37 mark. Nash ended the run with an unassisted goal, but Union responded with back-to-back goals and extended their lead to 13-3 at halftime.
After both teams traded goals to start the third quarter, Union ended the third quarter with a player-up goal from Teagan Steele and took a 14-4 lead into the final quarter.
The fourth quarter saw Union outscore Plattsburgh 4-0 as the Cardinals only registered two shots in the final quarter and ultimately fell 19-4.
