SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Senior guard
Reem Welch (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Thomas Jefferson) of the Plattsburgh State men's basketball team has been named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Athlete of the Week for the period ending Nov. 9, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. This is Welch's first career weekly honor.
Welch's career-high day fueled the Cardinals to an 80-73 win over Skidmore in their only game of the week. The senior guard poured out a career-high and game-high 36 points to lead the Plattsburgh offense, while shooting 54.5% from the field and 50.0% from the three-point line. He had an all-around performance, grabbing a career-high and team-high 12 rebounds for a double-double, as well as dishing out four assists and collecting a steal.
Plattsburgh State is currently 1-0 and next hosts Norwich tomorrow, Nov. 11, at 7 p.m.
