Myers Scores Stunner as Cardinals Battle to 1–1 Draw at Oswego

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to four matches on Saturday afternoon, playing to a 1–1 draw against Oswego State in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action.

The Cardinals entered the contest following a scoreless draw with defending conference champion New Paltz and having lost to Oswego just once in the past nine seasons.

Plattsburgh wasted little time asserting itself offensively, opening the scoring in the 16th minute when junior Sydney Myers (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Saranac) delivered one of the goals of the season. After collecting a second ball near midfield, Myers took a few touches forward and unleashed a powerful strike from distance that rocketed into the top-left corner, her team-leading ninth goal of the year.

The Lakers responded less than 10 minutes later, as Olivia Davis found the equalizer with a matching effort into the top corner to even the score at 1–1. Despite the Cardinals outshooting Oswego 7–3 in the first half, the teams entered the break deadlocked.

Plattsburgh continued to dictate the run of play in the second half, generating several quality looks and outshooting the Lakers once again. However, Oswego's defense held firm under pressure, forcing the Cardinals to settle for a hard-fought draw.

With the result, Plattsburgh improves to 7-6-2 overall and 4-1-2 in SUNYAC play. The Cardinals remain in prime position to clinch a postseason berth when they travel to Potsdam on Wednesday for a 3 p.m. kickoff.
