Andrea Bingham (Wynantskill, N.Y./Averill Park),
Sophia Gottschall (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Plattsburgh),
Hallie Hurwitz (Beekmantown, N.Y./Beekmantown), and
Megan Phelps (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) were each honored for their time with the program.
The Cardinals move to 4-1 with the win and next take on VTSU-Castleton tomorrow, Sept. 20 at 4 p.m. in Castleton, Vermont. The Badgers move to 2-3 with the loss and next play Husson on Saturday, Sept. 21 in league action.
The Cardinals dominated the day from the jump, winning their No. 1 doubles match 6-0 with
Ava Carey (Nanuet, N.Y./Nanuet) and
Jacklin Mitchell (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Peru). Phelps and Bingham followed soon after with a 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles, with Hurwitz and Gottschall winning at No. 2 doubles 6-1 to secure the doubles point towards the match score.
The singles matches were much of the same as Gottschall had a quick 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles and Mitchell won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles to go up 3-0 in the match score. Phelps clinched the win at No. 5 singles, also winning 6-0, 6-0, with Bingham finishing next with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 doubles. Hurwitz took home a No. 1 singles win 6-1, 6-2 before
Kristy Cantwell (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Plattsburgh) completed the 7-0 win, earning a 6-0, 6-1 No. 4 singles win.
