2024 CSC Academic All-District Baseball Teams

Jack Defayette (Rotterdam, N.Y./Schalmont) and junior right-handed pitcher
Kolby Mordecki (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Roy C. Ketcham) each earned 2024 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Baseball Team honors following the conclusion of the 2024 season. The pair are the first to earn honors from the baseball program since 2009 when Kyle Kowalowski, Billy Davis, and Erick Swhind all earned honors.
To be eligible for this ballot, student-athletes must excel on the court and in the classroom, carrying at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA while being at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
Defayette, a Management Information Systems major, finished with a 3.77 cumulative GPA as he appeared in 32 games and made 30 starts during the season. Defayette finished third on the team with a .368 batting average, totaling 39 hits, and also tied for the team lead with 11 doubles. He also added 28 runs scored and drove in 12 runs while stealing 10 bases. Over the season, he accumulated 13 multi-hit games, which was second on the team. He had two three-hit games, going 3-4 against Fredonia on Apr. 13 and 3-4 against St. Lawrence on Apr. 17.
Mordecki enjoyed a breakout season as one of the Cardinals' weekend starters, tying a program record with 11 starts over the season. An ecology major who carries a 3.64 cumulative GPA, he finished the season with a 4-4 record and a 5.05 ERA, also posting a 1.55 WHIP. He totaled 51.2 innings, striking out 40 batters and holding opponents to a .255 batting average. During the year, he won conference pitcher of the week honors twice, on Mar. 18 and Apr. 15. He earned his first accolade with five scoreless innings against CCNY on Mar. 16, striking out seven and earning the win. He threw seven strong against Fredonia on Apr. 13, striking out seven and allowing one run to earn the win and pitcher of the week honors.
The Cardinals advanced to the postseason for the second time in three seasons but fell in both games of the double-elimination tournament, finishing their season at 24-16.
