GENESEO, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State men's track and field team competed on day one of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Outdoor Championships and obtained nine points as they are in sixth place after a day of competition.
Isaiah Ritter (Peekskill, N.Y./Peekskill) and
Aidan Masten (Peru, N.Y./Seton Catholic) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the long jump, picking up the points the Cards.
Ritter finished in fourth place, just missing out on a medal in his first SUNYAC Outdoor Championships with a career-best of 6.71 meters. Masten was not far behind with a career-best jump as well, with his being 6.70 meters, earning him fifth place.
The 100-meter dash saw three All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) marks from the Cards as
Brexton Montville (Cadyville, N.Y./Saranac) and
Charles Cypress (New Windsor, N.Y./Cornwall). Montville ran the second-best time of his career with a 10.69 mark, the second fastest of the day at the meet. Cypress notched a new career-best time, finishing right behind Montville in third place running a 10.74 race.
Jordan Williams (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Hayes) had an excellent race but finished 10
th with a 10.99 AARTFC mark to just miss out on the finals on Saturday.
Cypress also ran in the 200-meter race and advanced to the finals on Saturday in that event as well, posting a mark of 22.23 which was the third-best time of the day.
Faris Webber (Arlington, Va./Washington Liberty) currently is in eighth place in the decathlon with 2,458 points.
The Cards will return tomorrow for the SUNYAC Outdoor Championships at 10 a.m., with the men's decathlon 110-meter hurdles beginning the day.
