PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - After being shut out in the first half, the Plattsburgh State women's lacrosse team couldn't match the Golden Eagles' scoring and fell to Brockport 17-3 in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) matchup. Sophomore attacker

Lillian Gilroy put one in the back of the net for the Cardinals right off the draw control as she took it straight to the net. Gilroy picked up five draw controls to lead the team on the day and caused three turnovers, which led the team as well, on the defensive end, to pair with two ground balls.
Caitlin Nash (Patchogue, N.Y. / Patchaogue-Medford) led the team with three ground balls.
Janey Adams (Wynantskill, N.Y. / Averill Park) had a solid performance with two draw controls, caused turnovers, and ground balls.
For the Golden Eagles, Alayna Foos led the team in points with six off of four goals and two assists. Sarah Kilburn led the team in goals with five.
The Golden Eagles outshot the Cardinals 31-11 and had a slight advantage in ground balls 16-12. The Cardinals picked up eight draw controls while the Golden Eagles had the edge with 13. On free-position shots, the Cardinals were 1-3 while the Golden Eagles took advantage of their chances and were 5-6. On clears the Cardinals were 8-13 and the Golden Eagles 12-13.
Plattsburgh moves to 2-9 overall (1-4 SUNYAC) and next travels to Buffalo State on Saturday, Apr 13 with the first draw control set for 11 am. Brockport moves to 7-4 overall (4-1 SUNYAC) and next travels to Cortland on Saturday, Apr 13 with the first draw control set for 1 pm.
Tristan Davis opened the first quarter with a goal at the 14:07 mark as she started a 10-goal run for the Golden Eagles that went into halftime as the Cardinals were held scoreless. The Cardinals had four shots in the first and only one in the second as they let up five goals in each quarter. After a yellow card on the Golden Eagles in the first at the 9:45 mark, the Cardinals had an extra player-up opportunity but weren't able to take advantage. The Cardinals threatened to score at the 9:32 mark on a free position attempt by
Rachel LaMar (Ballston Lake, N.Y. / Shenendehowa) but the shot went wide of the net. Another card on the Golden Eagles in the second at the 11:08 mark put the Cardinals in the offensive zone, but the Nash shot was saved and was the Cardinals' only shot of the quarter as they went into halftime down 10-0.
Barnosky opened the third with a goal at the 12:43 mark that made the score 10-1 Golden Eagles. Kilburn responded with a goal nearly a minute later and started a four-goal run for the Golden Eagles that ended the third period and made the score 14-1 Golden Eagles after three-quarters of play.
Kilburn opened the fourth with another goal at the 13:52 mark. Barnosky responded just about three minutes later with her second goal of the game and made the score 15-2. It was Kilburn again as she put one more in the back of the net for the Golden Eagles. Gilroy scored the Cardinals' last goal of the game at the 7:55 mark and made the score 16-3 Golden Eagles. Journey Naab tacked on the last goal of the game with less than 30 seconds remaining as the Cardinals fell 17-3 in SUNYAC play.
