SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's lacrosse team suffered a road setback against Union, falling 20-1 in a non-conference matchup. After ending a four-goal run in the first with a goal, the Cardinals' offense was not able to put anything on the board and were shut out the rest of the game.

Cynthia Barnosky (Shirley, N.Y. / William Floyd) posted the only Cardinal goal. Senior defender
Janey Adams (Wynantskill, N.Y. / Averill Park) led the Cardinals with four draw control wins while senior defender
Sam Lombardi (East Atlantic Beach, N.Y. / Kellenberg Memorial) led the Cardinals in caused turnovers with three and added three draw controls and ground balls.
Hannah Lowder (Rome, N.Y. / Rome Free Academy) recorded three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
For Union, Audrey Larson led the team in points with four with three goals and one assist.
Union outshot the Cardinals 38-8 and had a 16-9 edge in ground balls. Union won the draw control battle 12-9. The Cardinals went 0-4 on free position shots and Union went 1-3. The Cardinals went 0-2 on extra man-up opportunities and Union went 1-2 on extra man-up opportunities.
Plattsburgh moves to 1-5 with the loss and next hosts Brockport on Saturday, March 23 as they open up SUNYAC play at 11 am. Union moves to 3-1 with the win and next travels to #2 William Smith on Friday, March 22 for a Liberty League matchup at 4 pm.
Union started the first quarter with a four-goal run led by Anna Smith with two goals. Barnosky broke up the run with an unassisted goal at the 10:32 mark that made the score 4-1. Union went on another four-goal run to end the first and went into the second up 8-1.
Union scored five in the second while holding the Cardinals scoreless. The Cardinals had a total of three shots for the quarter and weren't able to get anything going offensively. Only one of the three shots was on goal but was saved by the Union goalie as the Cardinals went into halftime down 13-1.
The Cardinal defense was able to limit Union on the offensive side as they only let up three goals, picked up five ground balls, and caused six turnovers. First-year goalie
Jess Loch (Tappan, N.Y. / Tappan Zee) faced seven shots and made three saves. The Cardinals had two shots and one was on net but saved as they went into the fourth down 16-1.
Union put in four goals in the fourth as they went on to win 20-1 in this non-conference tilt.
Loch made nine saves in the loss for Plattsburgh while sophomore goalie Sydney Widlitz made three saves in the win for Union.
