After even play across the first period, Masotta opened up the scoring for Plattsburgh at the 14:14 mark as Wasik and Urban moved the puck up the ice to find the graduate student skating through the neutral zone unguarded, where she finished the one-on-one with the goalie, going right through the five-hole for the score. Leading 1-0 heading into the intermission, the Cardinals held a 13-10 shot advantage over the 'Roos, as the first period also saw zero penalties.
In the second period, both teams tallied a power play goal, as Plattsburgh had three advantage opportunities in the period and Canton had two. Masotta got the power play score first for Plattsburgh, as she scored in the crease with a short-side finish, off of assists from Wasik and Boric, as the team took advantage of a five-on-three chance. Canton then earned a five-on-three chance of their own and put themselves down just one score as Desiree Snook tallied her conference-leading ninth goal of the year.
In the third period, Plattsburgh played through over seven minutes with just a one-goal lead, until Pazmandi buried a slap shot from the right face-off circle, finishing high-stick side to give the Cards a two-goal cushion, as
Bridget Orr (Excelsior, Minn./North American Hockey Academy) and Urban tallied assists.
Soon after, just before the 12:30 mark, Chamonix Jackson scored to once again put Canton right back in the game, but Boric responded less than 30 seconds later with a wrap-around score to help seal the win for the Cardinals.
