Box Score MONSEY, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 non-conference decision to NCAA Division II Dominican (N.Y.) College on Sunday afternoon at Manny Welder Park.
Junior
Nicole Svantner (West Nyack, N.Y./Clarkstown South) prevailed, 2-6, 7-6 (7-3), 1-0 (10-8), at No. 5 singles, while the doubles team of junior
Samantha Svantner (West Nyack, N.Y./Clarkstown South) and
Nicole Svantner at No. 3 and sophomore
Sophia Gottschall (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Plattsburgh) at No. 6 singles each won by default.
Nicole Svantner finished the weekend unbeaten in both singles and doubles play, going 1-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles.
Plattsburgh State falls to 1-1 overall with the loss and next hosts defending State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) champion SUNY Oneonta on Saturday, Sept. 10, at 1 p.m. in its SUNYAC opener. Dominican rises to 1-1 overall with the win and next visits Post University on Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 3 p.m.
