CANTON, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State men's lacrosse team fell to No. 15 St. Lawrence University, 25-5, in non-conference action on Tuesday evening at Hall-Leet Stadium.
Junior attackman
Michael Swift (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) led the Cardinal attack with a career-high three goals, while senior midfielder
Stephen Kane (Hampden, Mass./Minnechaug Regional) and first-year attackman
Donald Woods (Rocky Point, N.Y./Rocky Point) each recorded two points on a goal and an assist. Junior long-stick midfielder

Justin Rocovich (Bohemia, N.Y./Connetquot) and first-year long-stick midfielder
Kyle Ruland (Medford, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) each scooped up three ground balls.
The Saints held the upper hand in shots (53-29), ground balls (48-17) and face-offs, going 24-for-34 at the 'X.' Both teams were scoreless on two extra-man opportunities. On clears, Plattsburgh State was 12-for-17, while St. Lawrence was 17-for-21.
Plattsburgh State falls to 2-8 overall with the loss and next hosts SUNY Oneonta on Saturday, April 9, at 1 p.m. St. Lawrence rises to 7-2 overall with the win and next visits Skidmore College on Friday, April 8, at 7 p.m.
St. Lawrence jumped out to an 8-0 lead before Kane netted his team-leading 33rd goal of the year with 1:40 remaining in the first quarter. The Saints led, 8-1, after 15 minutes of play.
The Saints scored four unanswered goals to start off the second quarter before Swift buried an unassisted strike midway through the stanza. St. Lawrence scored 2:02 later to provide what wound up being the halftime score of 13-2.
In the third quarter, St. Lawrence netted three goals before Woods cashed in on a feed from Kane with 7:50 left in the frame. The Saints scored four more times in the third, including a man-down goal by sophomore midfielder/attackman Ben Kniskern, to build a 20-3 advantage through three quarters of play.
The two teams traded goals in the early going of the fourth quarter, with Swift answering a pair of Saint markers. St. Lawrence ended up scoring the final three goals of the contest to spell the 25-5 final score.
Senior attackman Chris Jordan led the Saints with seven points on a goal and six assists, while senior attackman Mark Mahoney tallied five points on four goals and an assist. Senior attackman Jack Hennessey and sophomore midfielder/attackman Brian Souza each finished with four points on three goals and an assist. Sophomore face-off specialist Brendan Brigham led St. Lawrence at the 'X,' going 10-for-11.
