NEWBURGH, N.Y. / ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's tennis team swept a rare non-conference doubleheader in its first matches of the spring portion of its schedule on Saturday afternoon, topping Mount Saint Mary College, 9-0, in Newburgh before crossing the Hudson River and blanking Bard College, 9-0.
 
Junior 
Cydney Bond (Peru, N.Y./Peru) won at the top spot of the doubles and singles lineup in both matches. Bond and senior 
Sarah Hoeffner (Montgomery, N.Y./Valley Central) won, 8-2, at No. 1 doubles in both matches, while Bond prevailed 6-2, 6-3, at No. 1 singles against Mount Saint Mary and 7-5, 6-0 at the top singles position against Bard.
 
Junior 
Alyana Leandry (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) and sophomore 
Jacqueline Svantner (West Nyack, N.Y./Clarkstown South) won both of their matches at No. 2 doubles, winning 8-2 against the Knights and 8-1 versus the Raptors. Singles players who won two matches include Leandry at No. 2 (6-4, 7-6 [7-3] vs. Mount Saint Mary; 6-0, 6-0 vs. Bard), Hoeffner at No. 3 (6-4, 6-4 vs. Mount Saint Mary; 6-1, 6-3 vs. Bard) and sophomore 
Samantha Svantner (West Nyack, N.Y./Clarkstown South) at No. 4 (6-0, 6-1 vs. Mount Saint Mary; 6-0, 6-0 vs. Bard).
 
Plattsburgh State rises to 6-5 overall with the wins and hosts three-time defending State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) champion SUNY New Paltz in its home finale on Saturday, April 9, at 12 p.m.
