PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State men's lacrosse team fell to SUNY Brockport, 13-1, in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action on Saturday afternoon at the Field House Complex.
Brockport held a 43-30 edge in shots and a 35-22 cushion in ground balls in addition to going 12-for-18 at the 'X.' On extra-man opportunities, the Golden Eagles were 2-for-6, while the Cardinals were 0-for-4. Brockport was 30-for-32 on clear attempts, while Plattsburgh State was 26-for-30.
Plattsburgh State falls to 3-10 overall (0-4 SUNYAC) with the loss and next visits SUNY Geneseo on Saturday, April 23, at 1 p.m. Brockport rises to 8-3 overall (3-1 SUNYAC) with the win and next hosts SUNY Potsdam on Saturday, April 23, at 1 p.m.
The Golden Eagles scored the only three goals of the first quarter, with senior midfielder Owen VanWie tallying 30 seconds into the game before senior rmidfielder Rocco Santillo netted a marker on an assist from VanWie and junior midfielder Jhovanny Olivares scored an unassisted goal.

Owen Lorenzetti (Seneca Falls, N.Y./Mynderse Academy) cut the gap to 4-1 with a score with 9:20 remaining in the frame. Junior attackman Nelson Logan scored on a pass from fifth-year face-off specialist Ethan Stiles to put the Golden Eagles on top 5-1, while Santillo scored unassisted 57 seconds later. Junior midfielder Ryan McCarthy connected with sophomore attackman/midfielder Carson Colucci to make it a 7-1 game, while Santillo scored on a behind-the-back shot thanks to a pass from Logan with 1:58 to go in the second quarter. Brockport entered halftime with an 8-1 lead.
The Golden Eagles received a man-up goal from Santillo (Logan assist), a Stiles marker and a VanWie strike to lead 11-1 through three quarters of play, while Colucci (senior long-stick midfielder Aidan Fitzgerald assist) and McCarthy (man-up, sophomore attackman Ben Hay assist) each scored for Brockport in the fourth.

For Brockport, Santillo (four goals) and VanWie (three goals, one assist) led the way offensively, while Stiles went 12-for-18 at the face-off dot. Fitzgerald caused a game-high six turnovers.
Bassi made 13 saves in net for the Cardinals, while senior goalie John Felice turned aside eight shots in 45 minutes of play for the Golden Eagles.
