BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's tennis team continued its push to qualify for the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Tournament with a 6-3 conference win over SUNY Brockport on Thursday morning at the Binghamton Tennis Center.
 
In doubles action, junior 
Alyana Leandry (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) and sophomore 
Jacqueline Svantner (West Nyack, N.Y./Clarkstown South) won, 8-5, at the No. 2 spot, while sophomores 
Nicole Svantner (West Nyack, N.Y./Clarkstown South) and 
Samantha Svantner (West Nyack, N.Y./Clarkstown South) won, 8-1, at No. 3.
 
The Cardinals then won four of six flights of singles, with 
Samantha Svantner winning 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3, sophomore 
Sarah Benowitz (New City, N.Y./Clarkstown North) prevailing 6-4, 6-0 at No. 4, 
Nicole Svantner triumphing 6-3, 7-6 (7-1) at No. 5 and senior 
Bri Miller (East Greenbush, N.Y./Columbia) topping her opponent 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6.
 
Plattsburgh State rises to 7-6 overall (2-3 SUNYAC) with the win and faces SUNY Geneseo next tomorrow at 12 p.m. Brockport falls to 4-2 overall (1-2 SUNYAC) with the loss and next squares off with SUNY Oneonta tomorrow at 3 p.m.
