Emma McLaughlin (Northport, N.Y./Northport) broke the program record for career caused turnovers and junior midfielder
Lindsay Guzzetta (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) broke the program record in career ground balls, as the Plattsburgh State women's lacrosse team fell to SUNY Oneonta, 19-11, in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action Wednesday afternoon at the Field House Complex.
Caoili now has 11 assists on the season, which bettered her own program record of 10 from 2019, and she scored her 52nd career goal to tie
Frankie Porcaro's mark that she set from 2019-21. Caoili already is the program's all-time leader in assists (32) and points (84). In addition, McLaughlin upped her career total in caused turnovers to 35, breaking the former record of 34 set by senior attacker
Allie Vangas (Cornwall-on-Hudson, N.Y./Cornwall), while Guzzetta collected her 47th and 48th career ground balls to better the former program mark of 46 set by Claire Wiley from 2019-20.
The Red Dragons outgained the Cardinals in shots (40-32) and ground balls (27-19), while both teams controlled 17 draws. On clears, Plattsburgh State was 13-for-20, while Oneonta was 21-for-27.
Plattsburgh State falls to 3-6 overall (1-3 SUNYAC) with the loss and next visits SUNY Geneseo on Saturday, April 16, at 1 p.m. Oneonta rises to 6-5 overall (4-1 SUNYAC) with the win and hosts Buffalo State next on Saturday, April 16, at 10 a.m.
Oneonta scored the first two goals of the game 36 seconds apart, with junior attacker Megan Foiles scoring first before senior attacker Tessa Hughes buried a pass from junior attacker Lauren Sullivan. First-year attacker
Maddy Garcia (New Paltz, N.Y./New Paltz) put the Cardinals on the board midway through the first quarter on a free-position shot before Oneonta received goals from sophomore attacker Lauren Mancini, senior midfielder Rachel Morris (free-position shot), Foiles and first-year midfielder Mason Benvenuto (Foiles assist) to seize a 6-1 advantage. Guzzetta scored with seven seconds left in the first quarter to draw the Cardinals within 6-2 through 15 minutes of play.
Sophomore midfielder
Jordan Kowalski (Westfield, Mass./Westfield) put a sidearm shot into the back of the net on a free-position attempt in the opening minute of the second quarter before the Red Dragons countered with goals from Foiles and Mancini. Caoili dished an assist on a goal from junior attacker/midfielder
Kate Kennedy (Waddington, N.Y./Massena) with 9:44 left in the second quarter before the teams cleared the field due to a 50-minute lightning delay. Guzzetta trimmed the gap to 8-5 on a pass from Kowalski following the break before Oneonta went on a four-goal surge that included goals by Foiles, Morris (sophomore midfielder Margaret Byrne assist), first-year midfielder Miranda Murray (Hughes assist) and Hughes (Murray assist). Caoili broke up the run with a free-position goal with 3:07 left in the second, while Oneonta buried three unanswered markers courtesy of Murray (Mancini assist), Mancini (woman-up, free-position shot) and Hughes (Foiles assist) to construct a 15-6 edge through one half of play.
Oneonta netted the first two goals of the third quarter, with Mancini scoring on a pass from Foiles and Morris tallying woman-up on a free-position shot before Caoili scored two free-position in the final 5:56 of the third, the second of which was woman-up.

Davina Gyedu (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale) 3:59 into the fourth quarter before Foiles and Morris (woman-up, free-position shot) both tallied for Oneonta to bring the Red Dragon lead back out to 10 goals. McLaughlin and Caoili (Guzzetta assist) scored the final two goals of the game.

Lilla Nease (Lake Forest, Calif./El Toro) made a career-high eight saves, while sophomore goalie
Johanna Malone (Levittown, N.Y./Division Avenue) added four stops. Sophomore goalie Courtney Gallagher made nine saves in the win for Oneonta, while first-year goalie Julia Hawkins turned aside one stop in 6:22 of action in the fourth quarter.
