While Geneseo scored the first three points of the game, Inglee tied the score with a 3-pointer with 2:42 left in the first quarter. The Knights then scored six unanswered points before a 3-pointer by first-year guard
Hope Sullivan (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury) with 36 seconds remaining cut the deficit to 9-6 through 10 minutes of play.
Doody nailed a 3-pointer to tie the game before first-year forward
Payton Couture (Redford, N.Y./Saranac) handed the Cardinals a 10-9 lead with a made free throw. The two teams proceeded to trade baskets before a Doody jumper with 1:17 to go before halftime put Plattsburgh State out in front, 19-17, which wound up being the lead the Cardinals took into the locker rooms.
The high-water mark of the game for the Cardinals came in the early portions of the third quarter, as junior forward
Hannah Ruberto (Holtsville, N.Y./Sachem East) contributed four points and Degnan chipped in two points as a part of a 6-0 run, and Doody hit a 3-pointer midway through the frame to hand Plattsburgh State a six-point lead, its largest of the game. Geneseo started chipping away at the Cardinal advantage, and a jumper by first-year guard Mackenzie Reigle with 42 seconds remaining in third put the visitors out in front, 32-31, heading into the final quarter.
While Inglee tied the game at 34-all with a trey 2:02 into the fourth quarter, the Knights scored the final 11 points of the contest.
