PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's basketball team fell, 59-31, to SUNY Brockport on Senior Day Saturday at Memorial Hall in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action. It also marked the Cardinals' home finale.

Kelly Degnan (Irvington, N.Y./Irvington).
First-year guard
Hope Sullivan (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury) paced the Cardinals with eight points and three rebounds in 26 minutes coming off the bench, while first-year forward
Payton Couture (Redford, N.Y./Saranac) and sophomore guard
Brinley Inglee (Hudson Falls, N.Y./Hudson Falls) each notched six points, with Inglee's total coming in 14 minutes of reserve action.
For Brockport, junior guard Anna Felice scored a game-high 13 points in 19 minutes coming off the bench, while graduate student forward Erin Nolan tallied 10 points. Junior forward Molly Mahony pulled down 10 rebounds, while senior guard Chelsea Henry distributed five assists.
Brockport shot 32.8 percent (19-of-58) from the field, which included a 45.5 percent (5-of-11) clip from 3-point distance, and 64 percent (16-of-25) from the line, while Plattsburgh State shot 23.5 percent (12-of-51) from the floor. The Golden Eagles finished with a 51-28 edge in rebounds.
Plattsburgh State falls to 7-16 overall (4-12 SUNYAC) with the loss and next visits SUNY New Paltz on Friday, Feb. 18, at 5:30 p.m. Brockport rises to 10-11 overall (5-10 SUNYAC) with the win and next visits Fredonia on Tuesday, Feb. 15, at 5:30 p.m.
The Cardinals scored the first three points of the game, with Couture hitting a jumper and junior guard
Mya Smith (Wappingers Falls, N.Y./Roy C. Ketcham) making a free throw. The Golden Eagles scored seven unanswered points to take a 7-3 advantage, and while Inglee cut the gap to one following a 3-pointer, Brockport netted seven more unanswered points to construct a 14-6 cushion. Sullivan made a trey to whittle the deficit to 14-9 through 10 minutes of play.
While Brockport's Henry extended the lead to six with a made free throw, Inglee and Degnan made 3-pointers on back-to-back possessions to tie the game at 15-all just 1:06 into the second quarter, and Couture made a layup on the Cardinals' next trip down the floor to give the home team a 17-15 advantage. The Golden Eagles closed the half on a 20-8 run, however, and took a 35-23 lead into the locker rooms.
Brockport outscored Plattsburgh State, 13-1, in the third quarter, with a made free throw by junior forward
Misa Dowdell (Far Rockaway, N.Y./Scholars Academy) with 3:35 left in the frame serving as the Cardinals' lone point during that span. The Golden Eagles wound up doubling their lead, 48-24, heading into the fourth.
Plattsburgh State's best stretch in the fourth quarter came when Sullivan and Degnan accounted for four straight points midway through the stanza, but Brockport continued to pull away and scored the final five points of the contest.
