PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's tennis team knocked off Northern Vermont University-Lyndon, 9-0, in a non-conference match Tuesday afternoon at the Memorial Tennis Courts.
 
In doubles action, junior 
Cydney Bond (Peru, N.Y./Peru) and senior 
Sarah Hoeffner (Montgomery, N.Y./Valley Central) won, 8-1, at the No. 1 spot, sophomores 
Samantha Svantner (West Nyack, N.Y./Clarkstown South) and 
Nicole Svantner (West Nyack, N.Y./Clarkstown South) prevailed, 8-0, at No. 2 and senior 
Bri Miller (East Greenbush, N.Y./Columbia) and sophomore Jacqueline Svanter (West Nyack, N.Y./Clarkstown South) triumphed, 8-0, at No. 3.
 
In singles play, junior 
Alyana Leandry (Latham, N.Y./Shaker), 
Samantha Svantner and 
Nicole Svantner all won 6-0, 6-0, prevailing at No. 2, No. 4 and No. 5, respectively. Bond emerged victorious at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-1, while Hoeffner took a 6-1, 6-0 decision at No. 3. First-year student 
Sophia Gottschall (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Plattsburgh) closed out the match with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 6.
 
Plattsburgh State rises to 3-5 overall with the win and closes out the fall portion of its 2021-22 schedule on Friday, Oct. 1, when it hosts Northern Vermont University-Johnson at 3 p.m. With the loss, NVU-Lyndon ends its season with an 0-9 overall mark.
