PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's tennis team closed out the fall portion of its 2021-22 schedule with a 9-0 victory over non-conference Northern Vermont University-Johnson on Friday afternoon at the Memorial Tennis Courts.
 
Junior 
Cydney Bond (Peru, N.Y./Peru) and senior 
Sarah Hoeffner (Montgomery, N.Y./Valley Central) won, 8-2, at No. 1 doubles, while sophomore 
Jacqueline Svantner (West Nyack, N.Y./Clarkstown South) and senior 
Bri Miller (East Greenbush, N.Y./Columbia) prevailed, 8-3, at No. 3 doubles. In singles action, junior 
Alyana Leandry (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) won, 6-0, in the first set at the top spot in the lineup before her opponent retired after the initial frame. Hoeffner won, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 2, sophomore 
Samantha Svantner (West Nyack, N.Y./Clarkstown South) prevailed, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3, sophomore 
Nicole Svantner (West Nyack, N.Y./Clarkstown South) triumphed, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 5 and first-year student 
Sophia Gottschall (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Plattsburgh) emerged victorious by a 6-1, 6-0 score at No. 6.
 
NVU-Johnson forfeited at No. 2 doubles and No. 4 singles to complete the 9-0 victory for the Cardinals.
 
Plattsburgh State rises to 4-5 overall with the win and opens up the spring portion of its schedule on Saturday, April 9, at 12 p.m. when it hosts SUNY New Paltz in its home finale. NVU-Johnson concludes its season at 3-5 overall.
