PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's tennis team returned to its winning ways on Wednesday afternoon, defeating non-conference Castleton University, 9-0, at the Memorial Tennis Courts.
 
In doubles action, junior 
Cydney Bond (Peru, N.Y./Peru) and senior 
Sarah Hoeffner (Montgomery, N.Y./Valley Central) won, 8-6, at the No. 1 spot in the lineup, junior 
Alyana Leandry (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) and sophomore 
Jacqueline Svantner (West Nyack, N.Y./Clarkstown South) prevailed, 8-5, at No. 2 and sophomores 
Samantha Svantner (West Nyack, N.Y./Clarkstown South) and 
Nicole Svantner (West Nyack, N.Y./Clarkstown South) triumphed, 8-1, at No. 3.
 
Bond used a tiebreaker to clinch her 6-2, 7-6 (7-2) win at No. 1 singles, while Leandry cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 2. Hoeffner topped her opponent, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 3, 
Samantha Svantner prevailed, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 4, 
Nicole Svantner emerged victorious, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 5 and first-year student 
Sophia Gottschall (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Plattsburgh) triumphed, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 6.
 
Plattsburgh State rises to 2-5 overall with the win and next hosts Northern Vermont University-Lyndon on Tuesday, Sept. 28, at 4 p.m. Castleton slips to 3-4 overall with the loss and next hosts Rhode Island College on Saturday, Sept. 25, at 1 p.m.
