PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's tennis team fell to Farmingdale State College, 6-3, in non-conference action on Senior Day Sunday at the Memorial Tennis Courts. It also marked the 2021-22 home opener for the Cardinals.
 
Prior to the start of the match, Plattsburgh State honored its two seniors: 
Sarah Hoeffner (Montgomery, N.Y./Valley Central) and 
Bri Miller (East Greenbush, N.Y./Columbia).
 
Sophomores 
Samantha Svantner (West Nyack, N.Y./Clarkstown South) and 
Nicole Svantner (West Nyack, N.Y./Clarkstown South) won, 8-7 (8-6), at No. 2 doubles to give the Cardinals a point heading into singles play. 
Samantha Svantner won, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 4 singles, while Miller prevailed, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 5 singles. Hoeffner battled at the No. 3 position in the singles lineup, winning the first set, 7-6 (10-8), before falling, 6-3, in the second set. Her counterpart from Farmingdale State, freshman Lien Collings, captured a 10-8 super tiebreak to win the match at third singles.
 
Plattsburgh State falls to 1-5 overall with the loss and next hosts Castleton University on Wednesday, Sept. 22, at 4 p.m. Farmingdale State rises to 2-3 overall with the win and next hosts Purchase College in its Skyline Conference opener on Tuesday, Sept. 21, at 4:30 p.m.
