KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Four student-athletes from the Plattsburgh State men's basketball team have been selected to the 2020-21 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court, as announced Tuesday by the NABC.
The student-athletes honored include recent graduates Matt Bernhard (Voorheesville, N.Y./Voorheesville) and Travis Cox (Brooklyn, N.Y./Frederick Douglass Academy) and rising seniors Kyle Cary (Selkirk, N.Y./Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) and Dominique Threatt (Birmingham, Ala./Bishop Maginn [N.Y.]).
Bernhard graduated with a Bachelor of Science in biomedical sciences, while Cox graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in criminal justice. Cary is an information technology major, while Threatt is a social work major.
In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria. The qualifications are as follows:
- Academically a junior or senior and a varsity player.
- Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2020-21 academic year.
- Students must have matriculated at least one year at their current institution.
- Member of a NCAA Division I, II, III, or NAIA Division I institution with a NABC member coach.
