BROCKPORT, N.Y. — Plattsburgh State men's ice hockey suffered a 7-3 setback to SUNY Brockport in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game on Saturday night at Tuttle North Ice Arena.

Plattsburgh State (2-3-1, 1-2-1 SUNYAC) next plays a SUNYAC game at Buffalo State at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 19. Brockport (5-0-0, 3-0-0 SUNYAC) hosts SUNY Potsdam for a conference game tomorrow at 7 p.m.

Each team scored once in the first period to make the score 1-1 going into the first intermission.

Senior forward Trevor Pray put the Golden Eagles in front, 1-0, with a power-play goal at 3:22 of the first period. Pray one-timed a shot from near the left face-off dot for the goal. Senior forward Robert Flannery and sophomore defenseman Cam Barbagallo tallied the assists.

Sophomore forward Joey Mancuso (Pottstown, Pa./Connecticut Jr. Rangers) tied the game at 1-1 with his fifth goal of the season for Plattsburgh State. Mancuso entered the right side of the zone, skated behind the goal, and then scored with a wraparound as he stuffed the puck inside the right post at 16:07 of the first period. Junior forward Mitchell Hale (Oakfield, N.Y./Johnstown Tomahawks) and junior defenseman Jacob Modry (Albany, N.Y./Merrimcak College) tallied the assists.

In the second period, Brockport scored the first four goals to take a 5-1 lead. The Cardinals scored the final goal of the second period to make the score 5-2 entering the second intermission.

Just 25 seconds into the second period, sophomore forward Andrew Harley scored a power-play goal to make the score 2-1. After a flurry of shots, Harley tallied the goal on a rebound opportunity. Sophomore forward Connor Galloway and graduate student defenseman Ryan Romeo recorded the assists.

Just under seven minutes later, senior forward Jake Colosanti scored at the 7:21 mark. After getting behind the defense, senior forward Sam Dibietto played a pass across the front of the goal to Colosanti, who scored on a shot inside the left post to make the score 3-1.

Brockport's lead became 4-1 on Harley's second goal of the night at 9:46 of the second period. Skating towards the left side of the goal, Harley received a pass from first-year defenseman Jordan Rosenbaum and one-timed a wrist shot for the goal. Galloway tallied the secondary assist.

Under three minutes later, first-year forward Jacob King finished off a 2-on-1 rush to make the score 5-1. Harley played a pass across the front of the net to King, who finished with a shot inside the right post at 12:28 of the period. Junior forward Zack Norby also assisted on the play.

The Cardinals ended the string of Golden Eagles goals at 12:51 of the second period when junior forward Hunter Alden (Walla Walla, Wash./Northeast Generals) scored his first goal of the season. An initial shot by junior forward Joe Kile (Troy, Mich./Johnstown Tomahawks) was kicked out by the goaltender, but the rebound went to Alden in the left circle and he quickly fired a wrist shot into the left side of the goal to make the score 5-2.
