PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State baseball team (11-18) were downed by Clarkson University (16-12) 7-2 on Wednesday evening at Chip Cummings Field.
Plattsburgh State recorded eight hits whereas Clarkson had 12.
Senior
Rocco Cipriano (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y./Dobbs Ferry) went 2-for-2 at the plate.
Clarkson scored three runs in the top of the first off a double and two singles.
Sophomores
Erik Matz (Medford, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) scored in the bottom of the first off a single from junior
Stephen Lydon (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Suffolk CC) to make it 3-1.
The Golden Knights scored two more in the top of the second off a single and a sacrifice fly.
Freshman
Marion Oferman (Central Falls, RI./Central Falls) scored in the bottom of the second off a single from Matz to make it 6-2.
Clarkson scored their last run in the top of the fourth off a fielder's choice.
Freshmen
Joe Mazzariello (Bronx, N.Y./Westlake) pitched 1.1 innings and gave up six runs, six hits, walked two and struck out three.
Junior
Alec Fauvell (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown West) pitched 7.2 innings and allowed six hits, one run and struck out six.
The Cardinals will host New Paltz in their final SUNYAC series this weekend.
