PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's lacrosse team played Oswego State close early, but 16 unanswered goals by the Lakers ultimately was the difference in a 23-4 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) loss to Oswego Saturday afternoon at the Field House Complex.
Oswego finished with the edge in shots (33-9), ground balls (21-9) and draw controls (17-12) while going 4-for-5 on free-position shots. On clears, the Lakers were 15-for-16, while the Cardinals were 8-for-17.
Plattsburgh State falls to 1-12 overall (0-6 SUNYAC) with the loss and visits SUNY Oneonta next on Wednesday, April 17, at 4 p.m. Oswego rises to 6-4 overall (3-3 SUNYAC) with the win and hosts Buffalo State next on Wednesday, April 17, at 4 p.m.

Frankie Porcaro (Bellport, N.Y./Bellport) led the Cardinals with two goals, while freshman attacker
Emily Caoili (Lagrangeville, N.Y./Arlington) scored a goal and added an assist. Junior attacker/midfielder/defender
Leah Herman (Youngstown, N.Y./Wilson) scored her first goal as a Cardinal in the contest. Freshman midfielder/defender
Claire Wiley (Whitesboro, N.Y./Whitesboro) led the Cardinals on the draw and defensively with four draw controls and two caused turnovers, respectively, while sophomore attacker/midfielder
Kerri Corcoran (Rockville, Md./Richard Montgomery) and freshman midfielder
Reece Wiley (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Forks) each scooped up two ground balls.
For Oswego, senior attacker Teresa Shattuck dished out seven assists, while senior midfielder Toni Laneve tallied five points on three goals and two assists. Junior attacker Montana Garrett (three goals, one assist) and junior midfielder Molly Beck (four goals) notched four points each, while sophomore attacker Kamryn Sherman (three goals) and senior midfielder Brigid Regin (two goals, one assist) recorded three points apiece. Shattuck also controlled five draws, while Beck, Laneve and junior defender Clara O'Kane each caused two turnovers.

Alexa Cassidy (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick) made six saves in the loss for the Cardinals, while junior goalies Elianna Sanchez and Paige Noel each turned aside a shot in the win for the Lakers.
