NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – Despite winning the draw control battle, 13-12, the Plattsburgh State women's lacrosse team fell, 20-4, to SUNY New Paltz in its first-ever State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) road game on Wednesday at the North Turf Field.
New Paltz finished with a 29-11 edge in shots and a 17-11 advantage in ground balls. The Hawks converted on 1-of-3 free-position shots, while the Cardinals were 1-for-2 on 8-meter attempts. On clears, New Paltz was 6-for-6, while Plattsburgh State was 5-for-6.
Plattsburgh State falls to 1-7 overall (0-2 SUNYAC) with the loss and next hosts SUNY Geneseo on Saturday, March 30, at 3 p.m. New Paltz rises to 6-2 overall (2-0 SUNYAC) with the win and hosts Fredonia next on Saturday, March 30, at 12 p.m.

Kerri Corcoran (Rockville, Md./Richard Montgomery) and freshman midfielder/defender
Claire Wiley (Whitesboro, N.Y./Whitesboro) each scored once. It marked the first collegiate goal for Corcoran, who made her collegiate women's lacrosse debut after completing her women's ice hockey season. Freshman attacker

For New Paltz, sophomore attacker Tara Bovich posted eight points on seven goals and one assist, while freshman attacker Katie Zito tallied five points on two goals and three assists. Freshman midfielder Maddy Carullo (three goals, one assist) and senior attacker Taylor Russell (four assists) both earned four points, while senior midfielder Rachael Purtell scored twice and added an assist. Bovich scooped up five ground balls and caused three turnovers, while senior midfielder Sarah Raynock controlled seven draws.
