TAMPA, Fla. –The Plattsburgh State baseball team falls to 2-8 overall after an 8-5 loss to NYU (9-2) on Wednesday at Steinbrenner Field.
Junior
Stephen Lydon (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Suffolk CC) led the Cardinals with two hits while senior
Patrick Bryant (Center Moriches, N.Y./Center Moriches), junior
Kentaro Mori (Tokyo, Japan/Joto) and junior
Santino Ycaza (Mastic, N.Y./Brentwood Sonderling) each had one.
The Cardinals pitching staff and defense were able to hold off NYU until the bottom of third inning where they scored two runs off a fielder's choice and a throwing error.
Bryant scored in the top of the fifth off a ground out from Mori to make it 2-1.
NYU recorded two more runs in the bottom of the fifth off a fielding error and a single to left center.
Sophomore
Erik Matz (Medford, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) scored in the top of the sixth off a throwing error and junior
Stephen Bryant (Center Moriches, N.Y./Center Moriches) scored off another throwing error to make it 4-3.
NYU made it 5-3 in the bottom of the sixth off a ground out.
Plattsburgh State tied the game 5-5 in the top of the seventh.
Mori scored off a sacrifice fly form Matz and sophomore
Tom Bowe (Homer, AK/Homer) scored off a sacrifice fly from junior
Keller Kowalowski (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Beekmantown).
NYU took a 6-5 lead in the bottom of the seventh after they scored off a walk and made it 8-5 in the bottom of the eighth off a two-run single.

Connor Lyons (Brookhaven, N.Y./Bellport) pitched 2.0 innings and allowed three hits, walked one and struck out two.
Junior
Alec Fauvell (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown West) pitched 0.1 innings and gave up two runs and walked two.
Junior
Chris Dreier (Mahopac, N.Y./ Dutchess CC) pitched 2.1 innings and allowed four hits, two runs and stuck out one.
Senior
Frank Finkbeiner (Stone Ridge, N.Y./Rondout Valley) pitched 2.0 innings and gave up three hits, two runs, walked three and struck out one.
Junior
Kyle Petruzzi (West Islip, N.Y./Suffolk CC) pitched 0.2 innings and allowed one hit, two runs and walked one.
P. Bryant pitched 0.2 innings and only gave up one hit.
Plattsburgh State will head to Demorest, Ga. to play SUNY Cortland in a doubleheader on Friday starting at 12 p.m.
